MEET THE ARTIST, BEVERLEY LU STEEVES

I discovered art at a time I needed it most.

As a teenager facing bullying and depression, I found myself aimlessly flipping through TV channels—until I landed on a lively voice and sweeping brushstrokes. It was Bill Alexander, painting a serene landscape in 30 minutes. For the first time in a long time, I felt peace. That single moment shifted something inside me. I turned to my father and asked if we could buy some art supplies. He said yes—and I haven’t stopped painting since.

Four years later, someone asked if I taught art. I didn’t, but the idea stayed with me. A year later, I began teaching others the same creative refuge I found for myself. I've been teaching ever since.

My work is rooted in nature—wildlife, forests, light, and stillness. Living in New Brunswick, Canada, I spend countless hours observing and photographing animals in their natural habitat. These quiet moments with nature guide my vision, and my paintings aim to reflect the emotional bond between us and the earth.

Though I began with oils, I embraced acrylics in 2021, opening a new chapter of creative exploration. What never changed was my purpose: to paint not just what we see, but what we feel—a sense of serenity, beauty, and hope.

When people collect my art, I want them to feel that same peace I once felt watching Bill Alexander—that powerful stillness when the noise of the world fades. I want my paintings to bring beauty into your space, to remind you that even in a chaotic world, there is still calm, connection, and inspiration.

This is why I paint—to bring healing, beauty, and hope to life, one brushstroke at a time.
